Alongside a the budget new Moto G and the flagship Moto X Style, Motorola has announced a new device a tier somewhere in between: the Moto X Play.
The device features a 5.5-inch 1080p display, and comes powered by a huge 3630 mAh battery. Motorola says this should deliver a full 48 hours of mixed use, and quick-charging technology should provide eight hours of juice in just 15 minutes.

Other specs include 2GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB of expandable storage, a 21 megapixel f/2.0 main camera (the same as in the Moto X Style) and a 5 megapixel rear shooter.
It’s all powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 615 clocked at 1.7 GHz. That’s a weaker processor than most flagships, but should be enough for your day-to-day activities on a 1080p display.
In Motorola’s usual style, the phone comes with a relatively spartan build of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The usual array of proprietary features are on tow as well, including Moto Display for checking notifications by waving your hand over the screen, and Moto Voice for speech-guided assistance even when the device’s screen is off.
Motorola hasn’t is aiming for affordability with its new models, and says the Moto X Play will cost “half,” or $300-$400 less than the typical price of competitor’s flagships.
Given the flagship Moto X Style will cost just $399 unlocked, the Moto X Play looks like it will be priced at an impressive $350 or lower. Motorola says it’ll be available in 55 countries starting August.
